What is Breast Enlargement
Breast enlargement has been a dream of many individuals for a very long time. Modern surgical procedures make the process safer, but it is not a recent type of surgery. Breast enlargement has occurred for well over a century utilizing various attempts at transferring body fat from one location to another. This procedure had proven difficult to maintain and occasionally hazardous until recently. During the interim between where fat transfer began and this current era many different types of enlargement procedures were tried. Inevitably the best procedures won out and silicone shells filled with either more silicone or a saline solution were used as implanted devices to increase breast size.
Breast enlargement is the general term used for increasing the size of breasts after puberty has run its course. While the procedures for doing such will vary slightly between individual cosmetic surgeons. The procedure itself involves an incision in the skin on or near the breast followed by implantation of a silicone shell. This shell is then filled with the aforementioned silicone or saline solution until it has reached the appropriate size. Once it is the proper size there will be a period of manual adjustment to allow the implant to settle properly into place.
The procedures involved in breast enlargement are not necessarily solely for cosmetic purpose. There are several medical reasons to have breasts enlarged. Two of the most commonly cited reasons are for breast reconstruction purposes and mental health. Breast reconstruction after injury can be used to even out the breasts for a more uniformly symmetrical appearance. Individuals that suffer from some form of sexual dysfunction or depression can find that enlarging their breasts will help them feel more confident in their physical appearance and sexuality.
The reasons for an individual to desire breast enlargement vary as widely as the actual procedures. Cosmetic surgery in this regard has improved greatly in the last decade and many of the negative side effects that were possible in earlier surgeries have been negated. With modern practices the rejection of the implants by the body has decreased as well as the capacity for leakage. Large scale testing has proven that as long as a cosmetic surgeon is qualified and the procedure utilizes appropriately tested equipment the capacity for negative side effects is greatly reduced. The overall result of so much testing and technological advancement is that individuals that desire larger perkier breasts can have them safely installed in a wide variety of methods.
